Richard F. Hewitt, DDS, MSD

Richard F. Hewitt, DDS, MSD, is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. He has a BS degree in Chemistry from Furman University (magna cum laude), and a DDS degree (with honors-OKU) from Emory University School of Dentistry. He received his master’s (MSD) in the specialty of orthodontics from the University of Montreal. He served two years active duty at Fort Benning, GA, with the US Army Dental Corps, then returned to Greenville to join Dr. Joseph A. Wells and Dr. Billy Mitchell in the practice of orthodontics. Their practice was originally started by Dr. Wells’ father in 1927, and it continues 80+ years later with Drs. Hewitt, Cline, and Rogers.

During his career, Dr. Hewitt has served as president of the Greenville County Dental Society, Piedmont District Dental Society, South Carolina Dental Dental Association and the South Carolina Association of Orthodontists. He is a recipient of the William A. Mitchell Outstanding Service Award from the Greenville County Dental Society and the George P. Hoffmann Distinguished Dentist Award from the South Carolina Dental Association—the highest awards from the two respective organizations. Dr Hewitt currently represents South Carolina at the national level as a Delegate to both the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Hewitt is a member of the Greenville Rotary Club and has served on many local boards, including the American Cancer Society; United Speech, Hearing and Learning Center; Eastside YMCA; and others. He is a member of First Presbyterian Church where he has served as deacon, elder, president of Men of the Church, youth advisor, and boys’ basketball and softball coach. He is married to Annetta Smith of Greenville, and they have three children (Rick, Jay, and Camille) and six grandchildren.

Lucius M. Cline III, DMD

Lucius M. Cline III, DMD is a native of Greenville, South Carolina. He received a BS degree in Biology from Wofford College and a degree in Dentistry from the Medical University of South Carolina Dental School.

Dr. Cline practiced General Dentistry in Greenville for eight years before enrolling in the postdoctorate program at Emory University, where he received a degree in orthodontics. He returned to Greenville and began the specialty of Orthodontics in 1987.

Dr Cline has chaired the Peer Review Committee for the Piedmont District Dental Society and has held the office of Treasurer and Secretary for the Greenville County Dental Society. He has served as a District Representative for the South Carolina Association of Orthodontists and as a member of the Mentor Committee for the Southern Association of Orthodontists.

Dr Cline has been married for 35 years to Annette Owen and they have three children and five grandchildren. He has been active in the SAIL swim team for many years, and has volunteered his time as a soccer coach. Dr. Cline attends First Baptist Church of Greenville, where he has served as a deacon. His hobbies are tennis, running and swimming.

Karen S. Rogers, DMD, MS

Karen S. Rogers, DMD, MS is a Greenville, SC native. She received her undergraduate degree from Clemson University. She then attended the Medical University of South Carolina and earned her degree in Dentistry. She then attended the University of Michigan and completed her residency in Orthodontics and earned a Masters Degree.

Dr. Rogers has been practicing orthodontics in Greenville since 1994. She has served as the President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Greenville County Dental Society. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, and the South Carolina Dental Society. She has served as a member of the Craniofacial Anomalies and Cleft Palate Team in Greenville for the past 14 years.

Dr. Rogers is married and has two young children. She is very involved in their school and is a member of Christ Church Episcopal Church. Her hobbies include gardening, reading, and spending time with her family.

Brian Hamby, D.M.D.

Brian Hamby, D.M.D. is a Greenville native. He attended Wake Forest University where he earned a B.S. in Biology. He then earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina and went on to practice general dentistry for two years as he pursued a residency in orthodontics. In July of 2005, he completed his residency at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. This hospital-based program gave him extensive exposure to treating patients with special needs, including physical and mental disabilities and craniofacial abnormalities.

Dr. Hamby is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He is also a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, and the Greenville Dental Society. He currently serves on the board of the Greenville Dental Society. Dr. Hamby actively participates in many continuing education courses to remain current in his orthodontic education. He is also a member of the Six Elements Society where he has had the opportunity to study under and teach with Dr. Lawrence F. Andrews, DDS., a world renowned teacher and orthodontist.

Dr. Hamby is very excited to be practicing in his hometown. He lives near Cleveland Park with his wife Laura, and their children, Seaton, Austin, Nielsen and Camille. He attends Downtown Presbyterian Church where he serves as a deacon. In his free time, he loves to ride his bike, run, play with his children, and travel.
